What is Spalling & Delamination?
And What Causes It?

Spalling is the flaking and breaking away of the concrete surface in layers. Delamination is the separation of concrete layers from each other — often invisible at the surface. Both are caused by rebar corrosion, temperature cycling, impact loads, and moisture penetrating the structure.

Left unrepaired, spalling and delamination spread rapidly and compromise structural safety. Our engineers apply specialist Polymer-modified Repair Mortar — stronger than the original concrete — to restore structural integrity and extend service life by decades.

Capabilities of Spalling & Delamination Repair

A complete concrete repair service — from inspection and damage removal to specialist repair materials and protective coating against future deterioration.

Spalling Repair
Remove spalled concrete back to sound substrate, verify with Hammer Test, and fill with Polymer-modified Repair Mortar — stronger than the original concrete.
Delamination Repair
Locate delaminated areas by sounding and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), then re-bond concrete layers with Epoxy Injection or remove and recast as appropriate.
Rebar Corrosion Protection
Clean corroded rebar by grinding or sandblasting, apply Corrosion Inhibitor, then overlay with repair material — stopping corrosion at the source.
Crack Repair
Apply Epoxy Injection for structural cracks or Routing & Sealing for fine cracks — restoring structural continuity and preventing water ingress.
Protective Coating
Apply a waterproof and chemical-resistant coating after repair to reduce CO₂, chloride, and moisture ingress — providing long-term protection against repeat deterioration.
Quality Inspection (NDT)
Verify repair quality using Non-Destructive Testing — including Rebound Hammer, Core Sampling, and Pull-off Test — with a full quality certification report.

Inspect & Plan
Engineers survey the structure using Visual Inspection, Hammer Test, Crack Mapping, and GPR to define the damage extent and determine the appropriate repair strategy.

Prepare & Remove Damaged Concrete
Cut back spalled and delaminated concrete to sound substrate, clean the rebar and concrete surface, then apply primer to maximise repair material adhesion.

Repair with Specialist Materials
Apply Polymer-modified Repair Mortar or Epoxy Mortar as required, treat rebar with Corrosion Inhibitor, and cure to full design strength before applying protective coating.

Test & Handover
Verify repair quality by NDT (Rebound Hammer and Pull-off Test), issue a quality certification report, and provide long-term maintenance recommendations.
