Project Overview

The Boonthavorn Nawamin Branch project, carried out by Boonthavorn Retail Corporation Co., Ltd. — a leader in full-service retail of construction materials and home furnishings — required structural improvements to expand the usable capacity of the department store. This included strengthening the slab and the structure around large openings to accommodate new functions such as escalator installation and to increase the building's overall live load capacity.

Strengthening Objectives

  1. Increase the slab's capacity to carry actual Live Loads from retail operations and foot traffic

  2. Strengthen the structure around large slab openings designated for escalator installation

  3. Upgrade the structure to support the diverse service formats and operational demands of a Super Store

Installation Process

  1. 1

Existing Structure Assessment by the Project Engineering Team

The engineering team surveyed and evaluated the condition of the slab and the area around the openings to define the scope and the most appropriate strengthening approach.

  2. 2

Strengthening Design by Consultant and Structural Engineers

The consulting and design engineering team produced detailed strengthening drawings, specifying the positions and number of SMARTFIBER-STRIP TL1012 layers in accordance with structural engineering standards.

  3. 3

SMARTFIBER-STRIP TL1012 Installation Around Openings and Key Areas

Concrete surfaces were cleaned, then SMARTFIBER-STRIP TL1012 strips were applied along the engineer-specified layout using a high-performance epoxy resin to add tensile and flexural capacity to the structure.

  4. 4

Quality Verification via Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

Non-destructive testing was performed at every installation point to confirm bond integrity and verify that the strengthened structure met all engineering specifications.
