Project Overview

CHIC REPUBLIC's warehouse in Phuket — a large distribution centre for furniture and home décor — underwent structural upgrading to increase its slab load capacity from 500 kg/m² to 800 kg/m², in response to growing stock volumes and heavier loads.

The engineering team selected SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30, a Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) sheet offering tensile strength exceeding 3,100 MPa. Specifically suited to concrete slab strengthening, it is lightweight, fast to install, and resistant to moisture, heat, and chemicals.

Installation Process

    Existing Structure Analysis & Inspection

    The engineering team surveyed and assessed the warehouse slab condition, analysed the existing load capacity (500 kg/m²), and designed a SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 strengthening layout to safely achieve 800 kg/m².

    Concrete Surface Preparation

    The concrete soffit was ground and cleaned to remove dust, grease, and moisture, ensuring maximum bond between the high-quality epoxy adhesive and SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30.

    SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 Installation with High-Grade Epoxy

    SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 was laid in the engineer-designed direction using high-grade epoxy adhesive and rolled to eliminate air voids, ensuring full load transfer into the carbon fibre.

  4. 4

    Quality Inspection with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

    Non-destructive testing was carried out at every installation point to verify bond integrity and confirm load capacity at 800 kg/m² before handover to the warehouse.
