Government Complex, Chaeng Wattana – Structural Strengthening for Landscape Conversion of Water Reservoir

Project Overview

The Government Complex at Chaeng Wattana underwent a structural upgrade to transform a large concrete water reservoir in front of the complex into a landscaped garden. This enhancement aimed to harmonize with the newly constructed government building located directly across the site.

Due to the age of the structure, the existing concrete slabs could only support 900 kg/m², which was insufficient for the additional load from soil, landscaping materials, and vegetation. The engineering team implemented CFRP strengthening using SMARTFIBER-SHEET US-58, a high-performance ultra-strength fiber sheet.

  • Strengthening Details

    ✅ Top and Bottom Slabs:

    • Reinforced using SMARTFIBER-SHEET US-58

    • Increased slab capacity from 900 kg/m² to 1,400 kg/m²

    • Applied using high-performance epoxy adhesives for maximum bonding

    🛠️ Implementation Process

    1. Structural inspection and load evaluation

    2. Surface preparation of concrete for optimal adhesion

    3. CFRP installation of SMARTFIBER-SHEET US-58 at designated slab zones

    4. Final quality control using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

    ✅ Project Outcomes

    • Structure successfully upgraded to support the landscaped garden

    • No need for demolition of existing structural elements

    • Enhanced architectural harmony and environmental appeal

Long-term performance and safety assured with CFRP technology
