CFRP strengthening service for enhanced structural stability – using carbon fiber sheets.
Warehouse slab strengthening at Makro Sai Luat using SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 to increase Live Load capacity from 600 to 900 kg/m² without any structural demolition.
The Makro Sai Luat project involved strengthening warehouse floor slabs to increase Live Load capacity from 600 kg/m² to 900 kg/m², meeting the operational requirement for heavier goods storage.
SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 high-performance carbon fibre sheet was selected and installed on the soffit of the slab to increase Flexural Strength and reduce deflection — without any demolition or addition of new columns and beams, saving both time and construction cost.
The engineering team inspected the slab condition and calculated the required Live Load demand, then designed the layout and quantity of SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 to safely achieve the 900 kg/m² target.
The slab soffit was cleaned and abraded to remove dust, grease, and moisture, ensuring maximum epoxy bond between the concrete substrate and the carbon fibre sheet.
SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 was applied to the slab soffit following the engineered layout, bonded with high-quality epoxy adhesive and rolled to expel all air voids, ensuring full load transfer into the carbon fibre.
Bond integrity and material completeness were verified at every location. Installation records and a final report were submitted to the project engineering team prior to formal handover.
