MUNGTHONG THANI – Structural Reinforcement of Car Park for Data Center Transformation

Project Overview

     The MUNGTHONG THANI project involved the transformation of an existing parking structure into a secure and high-capacity Data Center. To achieve this, reinforcement of parking slabs and beams was carried out using high-performance composite systems.

 Materials Used

✅ SMARTFIBER-STRIP TL1012

A unidirectional carbon fiber strip applied to key tension zones:

  • Tensile strength over 2,400 MPa
  • Lightweight and corrosion-resistant
  • Applied to the underside of beams to improve flexural capacity

     

✅ SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30

High-tensile unidirectional carbon fiber sheet for slab reinforcement:

  • Over 3,100 MPa in tensile capacity
  • Adaptable to complex surfaces
  • Boosts both shear and flexural strength

     

🛠️ Installation Process

  1. Clean and prepare the concrete substrate
  2. Apply fiber systems using high-strength epoxy adhesive
  3. Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure adhesion and structural integrity

Reinforcement Objectives

The primary goals of the structural upgrade included:

  • Enhancing live load capacity of the parking deck
  • Improving shear strength of structural beams
  • Supporting heavy IT equipment, servers, and HVAC systems
  • Ensuring long-term reliability without demolition
