Private Vacation Home in Khao Yai – Structural Strengthening for Safety and Long-Term Stability

Project Overview

A private vacation home in Khao Yai encountered structural design and construction deficiencies, resulting in substandard load-bearing performance across slabs, beams, and columns. The engineering team from Smart and Bright Co., Ltd. carried out a comprehensive strengthening plan using CFRP solutions to bring the structure up to code and ensure long-term safety.

Strengthening Measures & Materials Used

✅ Beams:

  • SMARTFIBER-STRIP TL1020 installed on the underside to enhance flexural strength
  • Beam ends reinforced with SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 in U-wrap configuration to increase shear resistance

✅ Slabs:

  • Undersides of concrete slabs strengthened with SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30 to improve load-bearing performance

✅ Columns:

  • Entire height of selected columns wrapped with SMARTFIBER-SHEET UT70-30
  • Increased shear capacity and vertical load resistance for long-term stability

🛠️ Implementation Process

  1. Structural inspection and assessment by engineers
  2. Surface preparation for CFRP application
  3. Installation of fiber sheets and strips using epoxy adhesives
  4. Quality assurance with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

✅ Project Outcomes

  • Structural components upgraded to meet modern safety standards
  • Reinforced home now suitable for long-term private use
  • Enhanced value, durability, and performance of the residence
  • A successful example of quality reinforcement in a premium residential setting
