Project Overview

This private holiday villa in Khao Yai was assessed by structural engineers who found that the beams, slabs, and columns did not meet the required load-bearing capacity standards. The owner decided to undertake comprehensive structural strengthening using CFRP technology rather than demolishing and rebuilding.

Smart and Bright designed a complete strengthening system using SMARTFIBER STRIP TL1020 for flexural reinforcement at the beams and U-wrap at beam ends, and SMARTFIBER SHEET UT70-30 bonded to the slab soffit and wrapped around columns to increase compressive strength and ductility. The result is a structurally sound, safe building with significantly extended service life.

Installation Process

    Inspect and Assess Load Capacity of All Structural Elements

    The engineering team surveyed all beams, slabs, and columns, analysing current load-bearing capacity against actual live loads and designing the appropriate CFRP system for each structural element.

    Prepare Concrete Surfaces for Bonding

    Ground and cleaned all concrete surfaces at every location, removing dust, oil stains, and deteriorated material, then levelled surfaces to ensure complete epoxy adhesion with the CFRP.

    Install TL1020 on Beams and UT70-30 on Slabs and Columns

    Bonded SMARTFIBER STRIP TL1020 to the beam soffit (Flexure) and applied UT70-30 U-wrap at beam ends, then bonded UT70-30 to the slab soffit and wrapped UT70-30 around columns to the full height as specified by the engineer.

    Quality Inspection by Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

    Conducted non-destructive testing at every installation point — beams, slabs, and columns — to verify adhesion integrity and confirm that all structural elements meet the required standards.
